Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data we collect through the ShiftingGuru app and website, why, and your choices. The Service is provided by ShiftingGuru, a business owned and run by Rahul Goyal as a sole proprietor, at Shop No. 6, Bhardwaj Complex, near Pareena Laxmi Apartment, Sector 99A, Gurugram, Haryana 122505 ("we", "us"), who decides how your data is used and is responsible for it. This policy is written to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the IT Rules.

1. What we collect

Customers: name, mobile number, email address and city; the details of each moving request (service, cities, date, items and notes); the quotes and partner you choose; and any review you write.

Partners: business and contact details, GST number, service areas, the documents uploaded when applying, quotes, and booking history.

From your phone: a notification token (so we can send you updates) and basic technical data needed to keep the app working and secure.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos or payment card details.

2. Why we use it

To create and secure your account, including confirming your mobile number by SMS.

To send your request to suitable partners, show you their quotes and confirm your booking.

To send you emails and notifications about your requests, quotes and bookings. You can turn notification types off in the app.

To check reviews, prevent fraud and misuse, and meet legal obligations.

3. Who sees your details

Partners: a partner sent your request sees the job details. Your full name, phone and email are only shown once they accept the request, or after you choose them.

Customers: once you choose a partner, you see their business name and phone number.

Service providers we use to run the Service: Google Cloud (hosting and database), Google Firebase (SMS codes), Google Maps Platform (city search), Expo (push notifications), and our email provider. They may only use the data to provide their service to us.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. How long we keep it

If you delete your account (Profile → Delete account in the app, or at shiftingguru.com/delete-account), we permanently delete your account and all your requests, quotes and reviews straight away.

5. Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections. Passwords are stored only in hashed form, and the app keeps your sign-in in your phone's encrypted storage. Access by our team is limited to those who need it.

6. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, or name someone to act for you. You can update your name, email and city in the app yourself.

To make a request or a complaint, contact our grievance officer below. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

7. Children

The Service is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes

We will update this policy when our practices change, and tell you in the app or by email about important changes.
